How can I make my class more engaging?” or “How can I improve my Canvas site?” Did instructors ask you these questions during the pandemic? Ask four different academic technologists these questions, and you’ll probably get four different answers. While customizing course design is important, it became clear during the pandemic that structurally inconsistent online and digital spaces require students to devote significant time and energy navigating courses instead of on learning.
To reduce this cognitive load, the LATIS Learning Experience (LX) team developed a framework to bring consistency to course, site, and interaction design in the College of Liberal Arts (CLA). Learn about our new LATIS LX Design framework and the positive impact it’s having on thousands of CLA students across many high enrollment courses. We’ll discuss how we designed this framework in Fall 2021, and how we’ve applied our Innovation and Quality Assurance (IQA) process to Spring 2022 partner projects with instructors and course coordinators in four different CLA departments.
